Spurgeon as pastor. (The Rev. Archibald Geikie Brown was born in 1844, anH was trained in Spurgeon's College. Till lately he was tho pastor of the Bapti^h Church, Chatsworth Road, West Norwood (London). He founded the Baptist Church, at Bromley, .in Kent (1863) ; was pastor of tho Stepney Green Tabernacle in 1866; and built the. East London Tabovnacle which was opened in 1872. He was President of the London Baptist Association in 1877. In 1887 he withdrew , from the Baptist Union in company wOth C. H. Spurgeon owing to the "Down Grade Controversy." His protest, "T)w Devil's Mission of Amusement," is well-known in theological controversial literature.)
