The Englishmen's second innidgs closed for 300, thus leaving Australia 274 to get to win. The Australian bowling averages in England's second innings were : — Bowling Analysis. Cotter— 2 for 101. Saunders — 4 for 68. Armstrong — i for 33. McArtney— 1 for 39. Hazlett— o for 24. Noble— 2 for 23. Trumper and McArtney were the first to bat, but one of Barnes' best disposed of Trumper. One wicket for seven runs. Hill took his place at the wickets, and he only made a single when he was bowled by Fielder. Two wickets for 12. McArtney was soon after caught by Crawford. Three wickets for 27. Armstrong and Noble made a stand, and they brought the score up to 63. After lunch a heavy rain squall canio on, and play was abandoned for the day. AUSTRALIA— 2nd innings.
