One of the women members of the Finnish Diet met with a laughab'e mishap recently while attending the sittings of a leeal committee. Bored by the proceedings, she bestrode her chair, and rocked to and fro with h-r f<"-' clear of the ground. Suddenly .'•lie overbalanced and fell backwards, her brown boots alone apperaing above the chair, with which sho battled for some moments as she lay on the floor. The equality of the sexes is coming to be looked upon so much as a matter of course, that the male members of the committeo did not conceal their appreciation of the humour of the situation.
