[UNii-ED Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, Thursday. The criminal sessions of the Auckland Supreme Court were continued before Ml' Justice Deliniston to-day. A chargft of attempting to steal sheep belonging to H. C-. Glas*!, of BrOadmead, near Rawene, 011 April 26th last, was preferred against James George Ferguson, a respectably dressed mail, about 35 ot- 40 yearfe,. wtlo pleaded not gliilty. Aecusea biyhed property oii tlie opposite side of .the road lo the prosecutor, aiid acc-ised, oii oath,, stated that he possessed close on 2000 acres of laiid in the .Hokjanga district. , Oh his section adjoining .Mt 1 Glass's. jJrobei-ty at Bfoadwood he had some 60 sheep, and a. similar number of catlle. His Honor passed sentence .of two years' .hard labour. David Remnant was arraigned upon a charge of committing a serious offence upon a girl under 16 years, at J Hamilton, on July 25th last. Prisoner said, he wished to ask for an adjournment, as his \vjie ivas ill in the hospital and unable lo attend, and he wanted her as a witness. The rase was adjourned until to-morrow. Friday. At the Supreme Court to-day David Remnant, charged with committing a serious offence upon his step-daughter, a girl under 16 years, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
