OPENING OF THE SESSION. I < SUMMARY OF PROCEEDINGS. : — — ( [United Puess Association.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Parliament was opened by tho Governor to-day with tho usual ooremonies. COUNCIL. The following menibSra weic swern in' : — Messrs Gilmer, Callaii, Sinclair, Anstey, G. J. Smith, Barr, Luke, and Dr Collins. Rir.obJ'cns were carr,lc'd recording the loss sustained by the deaths of Colonel Pitt, Messrs licit, Walker, Smith, Kirkbride, and Sir John Hall. An Imprest Supply Bill parsed all stages, and the Council adjourned till Wednesday at 7.30. HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. Messrs Lang and Okey were sworn in. A month's leave of absence was I granted to Mr Rhodes (F.llesmcvo) and Mr McLachlan (Ashburton). Resolutions were carried expressing the less sustained by the deaths of Colonel Pitt, Messrs Kirkbride, Bolt, Smith, and Walker, and Sir John Hall. Notice of motion was given that six months' leave of absence be given the Hon. W. Hall-Jones. On the motion of the Premier, the House adjourned till 7.30 p.m. on TuesilaV.
