CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION.
INVERCARGILL, Monday, i To-day at the Magistrate's Court, Albert Stevens claimed £175 compensation from Paul Brown. It appeared that Brown entered Into an agreement with Stevens and another to turn out flas at Brown's mili> they to pay the Winnuig expenses of the mill and to receive £20 per ton for, all flax turned laat. Stevefts sustained injuries 'to One .of his. hands whilst sawing fire- . .wood for the mill. Brown contended • that Stevens was a contfc-actor and not an employee,, hence. he was not responsible, and was" not liable for compensation.
