AN AUCKLAND LIBEL CASE.

AUCKLAND, Thurs. At the Supreme Court this afternoon before Mr Justice Denniston, the action of Christopher James Parr, solicitor, vecsus Robert Frederick Way, for £550 damages for alleged libel, was begun, with a jury of 12. The alleged libel was the publication of an article in the "New Zealand Worker," of which defent>nt is editor, Alleging that plaintiff was interested paciiniarily in a disorderly houso by lending money to the propriel-rass at a hiph rate of interest, and that he used his position as a member of the Auckland City Council to facilitate the granting of a lodginghouse license to a person conducting a disorderly house. Mr Parr was a candidate at the last general election for City East.
