NELSON RUGBY UNION.

A special geuj/al meeting of the Nelson Rugby Unioif was held at Mercer's Rooms, last evening. Present — Dr Andrew (chairman), Messrs VV. E. Smith, V. McCabe, G. Sl.'.impton, G. Fairey, H. Nalder, VV. Camiington, W. Murray, K. Smith, J. Hurley, J. K. Johnston, R, Gilbert, H. Hall and F. P. Kitching. Mr J. Hurley was appointed junior selector, vice Mr Johnston, who had resigned. The following additions were made to the by-laws:—l. If any case occurs which is not, or which in the opinion of the Committee is not provided for by these rules, it shall be determined by the Committee in such manner as it shall think just, and it may (if it thinks t<> do so) report the case with its decision to a general meeting of the Union for confirmation. 2. That all additions to classification list not accepted at the time of application be held over until the following meeting. 3. No player shall be allowed to play in any Nelson Rugby Union competition if he resides in a sub-union district. This meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair. Subsequently a meeting of the Management Committee was held. Minutes of the previous meeting were rend and confirmed. An account was received from the Huia Club in reference to expenses in connection with the:'. 1 visit to ColltnKwood. The account was referred to the Huia delegates for uirther information. Letters were received from the Horowhenua and Wairarapa Thursday Unions inviting the Nelson Union to play matches there.—Resolvd that both Unions be thanked for their offer. The Wellington Rugby Union wrote stating that the matter of sending a representative team to Nelson would be definitely settled later 'on in the season. The Nelson Club wrote forfeiting the match Riwalta v. Nelson set down for Saturday next. It, was resolved that the Huia and Riwaka Clubs be written to asking tlism to forward the whole of the nett proceeds from matches played on their respective grounds to this Union, and that the'? respective shares would be forwarded to them. Messrs 'McCabe, Shrimpton, Kitching and Hall were appointed a subcommittee to revise the by-laws. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Dr Andrew for bis trophy, namely, the (President's Cup, for competition by the various schools of the district. The Fixtures Committee submitted th-3 following fixtures for the President's Cup competition : — June 19—Collepe A v. Central School, School, Trafalgar Park, 3 p.m. June 26—College B v. Richmond, Trafalgar Park, 3 p.m. July 13—Winners No. 1 v. Motueka, Motueka, 3 p.m. July 17—Winners No 2 v. winners No. 3, Trafalgar Park, 3 p.m. The following rules and regulations were made in reference to the above classifications: —■ 1. That every player must be a bona fide schoolboy. 2. That he must not be% playing in any other competition in connection with the N.R.U. 3. That no player shall play forinor* than one school. The reinstatement of Boyce of the Huia Club from Senior to Second Junior was granted. The following additions were made to the classification list: — Huia Senior: L. Batchelor, C. Dudley, H. Dudley. Rival, 2nd junior: T. Lyons and D. Burko; Rival, 3rd class: Robinson. Albion senior: C. Stewart, F. MeNee, R. Herd, J. Busch. Albion 3rd class: W. Shaw, J. Beattie, H. Ray. A. Fairey. College 2nd junior: C. Topliss; 3rd class: T. Richards, B. Massman, P. Munro. Referees for Saturday's mutches were appointed as follows: — Senior, Nelsoi v. Rival, Park. Mr G. Batchelor: Huia v. Albion. Motueka, Mr H. Nalder; Junior, College v. Rival, Park No 2., Mr G. Glover; 2nd Junior, Rival v. Riwaka, Riwaka, Mr Boundy; Collepe v. Albion, Victory Square, Mr C. Batchelor; 3rd class. Rival v. College, Park, 2 p.m., Mr Atkinson ; Albion v. Huia, Motueka, 2 p.m., Mr Bates.
