He contended that on the grounds of humanity and Christianity help ought to be sent to those so wofully afflicted. The question was as to the nature of the effort that should be made. After some of those present had expressed their entire : vmpatby with the movement, and subsequent discussion, it was unanimously agreed that Richmond and neighborhood should be canvassed for subscriptions. The names of jMis cs Hart, Holdaway, aud Fittall, and cf Mesdames Hunter, and Peryman, were enrolled as canvassers together with ethers whose consent to act is to bc asked.
