A SENSATIONAL STORY.

- CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A sensational story is in circulation here. It is to the effect that a young J man got an infant from its mother on the statement that he had arranged for someone to take charge of it. The ' girl took a maVried woman with her ? when she handed over the child, at which the j-ounj man was very much ' annoyed, and talked severely to the girl for letting the woman accompany [ her. He took the child away on his bicyclo. Afterwards the young mother became suspicious, and communicated hor fears to the Po!ice. On being questioned the .youn<j, man positively denied that he had ever seen the infant. He has since left Christchurch, and nothing is known as to what has become of the infant.
