Wjlfees, Csplara of «» Fire Brigade, wai'ed on tire Council ia reference to hrirging .tbe Borjngh under the new Fire Unlades* BdL He thought tbat it might be an advantage to the Borough financially to come under tho Bill, but steps would have to be taken by the Council to do this.— As the Council have not yet "received a copy of the Bill, and were not very clear as to its provisions, it was decided that no action be" taken until further information is obtained. It was re»olvfid,.on the motion of Cr Hunt, seconded by Cr Little, that the resolution of the 12th March* ' levying water rate for tha ensuing year, be .now confirmed, ' ' The Mayor lUggested the aivisableness of keeping a; hydrant in somo con--1 venient place, fo that traction-engine owners might obtain a supply pf.water by paying, say, 2s 6d per "tank. Cr Hart ■. reported tbat the trees planted on the recreation ground and on tbe reserve at the beach were, for the most part, becoming well established, >nt some few had died. Cr Hunt followed on the same lines. . Cr Sheat moved the following resolution}, which was seconded' byUr Hunt, and; carried :— 'Tbat this Council desires, to "place ron'** "record thfeir hrgh appreciation of ;.the Mayor's yeiforta during his four years of office, and their entire satisfaction with the diligence be has . ever displayed in .the: conduct' of .ajfairS of the Borough, and the manner in which he had responded to the many claims npon his time, both inside and outside of the' Council." Tho Mayor returned thanks, and the Council rose.
