A Government parade of the Nelson Rifles was held last evening, when the wliole of the drill was under the instruction of Staff Sergt.-Major Jones. Owing to tha inclement weather the attendance was two -short of the required muster prescribed by regulations foT an"Slection of officers. The election was I therefore held over until the next battalion parade. One new membtr was elected and one was proposed. A shooting trophy presented by i>-r H. Hall was handed to Lance-Corpl. Fisher, and cheers were accorded the winner and the donor.
