CHRISTCHURCH, Tues. A number of private persons were charged at the Magistrate's Court this morning with betting totalisator odds. The principal witness, a bookmaker, refused to give evidence incriminating himself. The Magistrate upheld the ■witness, and dismissed the cases, saying tha difficulty was always met with in such cases.
