THE BY-ELECTION.
Nominations closed before noon today for the vacancy for tho city on the Nelson Harbour Board, caused by the resignation of Mr O. W. Hanby. Mr John Charles Mercer was nominated by Mr John Scott, Bridge street, and Mr Wm. Rogers, ths Port, and being tho mly Domination, he has been declared c'uly elected.
