A man was seen last evening to fall in the street near the Carlton Hotel, Hastings, when a bystander, assuming the man was intoxicated, picked him up and laid him against the wall. At a meeting of the Trades and Labour Conference a resolution to "restrict the importation of labour under contract" was adopted as against an amendment lo "prohibit" such importation. It was resolved to recommend that the Inspectors of Awards be empowered to got an expert to assist where I necessary. It was resolved that the !
