THE V.M.C ; A. MOVEMENT.

A Ct)oi3 START.

There was a good attendance of those interested in the formation of a Young Men's Christian Association in Nelson at the Bishop's School room last evening. The Eev. C. H. Garland occupied the chair, and in his opening address spoke of the good work being done by tho V.M.C.A. all over the world. He thought if such an association could be established all the young men's institutions in connection with the various churches would have to be submerged into one. Speaking of the Church Which he represented, he said they had a gymnasium and a literary society. but he thought that it would be better that all should combine iii the one movement-.

Mr P. Hurst then read some of the regulations of the association, and after a general discussion two committees, one for canvassing the town and the other to inquire into the details of the trust money, was set up. A hearty vote of thanks to Messrs Hurst (the reviver of the movement in Nelson) and Webley, who was appointed secretary pro. tern., was carried.
