A FIRE.

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A fire broke out in Kessrs Sargood, Son, and Ewen's stall nt the Exhibition ►his afternoon, and before it was extinguished it had destroyed a quantity of decorative material, also a valuable meohaninal advertising picture. The outbreak was caused by the fusing of two electric wires forming part of a system installed by tho proprietors of the stall for the purpose of working the i mpchnnical picture. A Permanent Artilleryman on duty in the locality Bubiued the flaraes with four of tho chemical extinguishers placed throughout the building, and the fira was finally extinguished by one of the chemical fire engines at the Exhibition.
