CHRIST CHURCH GUILD BAZAAR.
A SUCCESSFUL ATTRACTION. U The bazaar being held by the Christ f Church Ladies Guild was opened in the Palace Skating Rink this afternoon, t and a varied and most attractive dis- [ play_ is made. A specialty is the col- . lection of jewellery and fancy goods / from Canada procured on purpose for the bazaar, and all of Canadian manu- j facture. Flower and cake competitions are among the attractions, and there are also numerous side shows. In p the' evenings there will be special attractions. The Garrison Band have kindly offered their services, and will play outside the Rink this evening, and some' of the members will give r .solos inside. Toy symphonies will be played "by well-known local musicians and conducted by Herr Lemmer, while o-morrow evening a number of action songs will be rendered by 50 lit- l tie children. _ Afternoon tea is obtainable, and refreshments are provided at any hour. The bazaar- will be open to-day and to-morrow afternon, and from 7 to 10 in the evening, the charge for admission being 6d in the afternoon r and Is at night. The premises adjoining the Rink have been converted into temporary tea-rooms, and have been effectively fitted up' and decorated; Miss Nina Jones wand Mr Katterns being responsible for the decorations. A magnificent cv/flection of sweet ; peas is to be seen, and the display of carnations, both in number and quality is also worthy of special mention. Thß stall-holders are as follow:— Guild stall: Mesdames Kempthorne, Leggatt and Sclanders. Sweet Stall : ( Mesdame3 Maginnity and Bamford; assistants, Misses Bamford and F. Maginnity. Produce Stall : Mrs F. Richmond ; assistants, Miss Boyd and Miss F. Richmond. Girls' Fancy Stall : Misses Houllier and Leggatt. Cake Fancy Stall : Mrs B. Lewis ; assistants, Misses Blackett and Hodson. Book Stall: Misses Heaps, Ledger, and Maginnity. Jumble Stall : Mrs Brice and rtiss Webb. Flower Stall : Misses Richmond and Maginnity.. Refreshment Stall : Mesdames Nicholson, Cock, and Haire; 13 assistants. Bran Pie: Misses /.Grimmett and Kitchen. Art Gallery': Miss Kempthorne, assisted by Misses H. Kempthorne, Bruswitz, Maginnity, and S. Fell. Silhouette Gallery: Mrs Topliss. The judges in the various competitions were: — Mr"S. F. Bolton, cut flowers ; Mrs Barr, Mrs Allan, and Mrs Stychen, table decorations and trimmed hats. The prize list is appended : — Twelve roses, Mrs A. R. Kitching lj six roses, Mrs Izard 1; collection sweet peas, Mrs P Bond 1, Mrs W. Harley 2; col, lection carnations, Mrs Izard 1; prettiest hat decorated with natural flowers," Miss Huddleston 1; table decoration, Miss M. Cock 1 j sponge roll, Miss R. Allen; assortment of cakes, Miss F. Maginnity; fruit cake, Mrs Maginnity; decorated cake, Miss L. Harvey. Special attractions ar advertised for to-night. The Garison Band will play and toy symphonies will be conducted/ by Herr Lemmer.
