THR BOER RISING.
AN OFFER BY A LKADING BOER. CAPETOWN, Thursday. General Botha has offered his services to the Government. He describes the raid as a filibustering expedition Mr Duncan, Colonial Secretary for the Transvaal, in an appreciative reply, states that he has forwarded General Botha's letter to Lord Elgin, but believes that the police will soon deal with Ferreira. , Dr. Jameson, the Cape Prmier, who has arrived at Madeira, entertains a similar view. Inspector White has been superseded at Upington. The farmers at Hoopstadt for three weeks were aware of the date that Ferriera would cross the frontier. He is not receiving local support, though he seeks to compel everybody in the Upington district to join him and fight for independence under the Black Flag or die. He has now 28 followers. Monday's police volley killed a farmer named Vandermerve, whom Ferriera recruited.
