THE RACES.
At Richmond. Park on Monday the first day's races of the Nelson Jockey- Club will, b.' got ptl". The racing. ,proniises to be better than for many ,mcetings,.,the acceptances ■leing very satisfactory. All arrangements have been made by the club, and a really pleasant day's o'uting may be confidently looked forward to. The first race will start at noon, and a large number of trains having been put on visitors will ,be able to get out at hours convenient to themselves. A large number of sporting men arrived by tho Pateena this morn'ng, including Messrs Rore, Tapp Cheeseman, Mahar, and W. Smith from The Canterbury Jockoy, F. Jones, who rodo Maniapoto in his Australian engagements was also a passenger Messrs J. E. Henrys (the wellknown handicapper), H. S. Izard w n .^i rarapa) ' and J - «• Pollock (Handicapper to the Wellington Racing Club) have arrived on a a short visit, and intend stavin K during the Carnival.
