NELSON EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Nelson Education Board returned its monthly meeting" this morning. There were present : — Messrs G. Talbot (Chairman), H. Atmore, Beuke, Franklyn, Baigent, Phillips, and Lock. It was resolved to forward to the Government, with a strong recommendation, the recommendation of tho Town Schools Committee urg ing, the removal of the Toi Toi Valley School buildings to tho old gaol site. Numerous replies were received from teachers throughout the district in regard to the agricultural science classes, which showed that 84 pupils had promised t<* attend the classes. ' It was resolved to postpone action until further replies- had been received from teachers. Members expressed satisfaction with the success which had so far attended the proposal to establish the agricultural science classes. It was resolved that tenders be invited for the purchase, for removal, of the old gaol buil. lin^s : : the tenders to be considered at the next monthly meeting' of the Board. Correspondence was received lrom the Department in reference to the examination papers of the City and Guilds of London institute * ond Board, and asking tho iioard to stxito tho number of papers that would bo. required. It was rosolvod to supp'y the info; s mat.o-> wUn teachers applied for papers. A letter was received /.on tho Town Schools Committee requesting that a site be granr-d o n the Central School playground for the purpose of erecting tho telocopr: presented by Mrs A. *. Atkinson. It was resolved that the members ot the Board visit the Central School ground before coming to a decision on the matter. Tho following resignation of teachers were dealt with . — Miss Mcßride., Upper Motupiko ; and Mr John Naylor, Stoke. The services of the assistant teacher at Little Grey were dispensed with owing to the falling off in attendance. Tho following 1 appointments were made :— Miss R. Josophson, assistant mistress. Denniston : Mrs Irwiu; IjYvU (temporary, pinbieet to hor getting a license) Mr' S M Scott. Ferntown ; Mr V. \ D Mlckle. Neudorf ; Mr Cseo. Winter Puponga. ...Miss C. Thorpe was reappo-inte-d instructress of the cookerv classes at Toi Toi Valley School" for another year, on the same terms as last year.... Miss llarknoss was reappointud as instructress of cookerv at West port jukl Rivfton.
