Resolved, on Cr Mercer's motion, that comparative returns of the cost of carting be provided. Cr \V«.«hlo,v moved, "That the fol- ' owing clause be added to the conditions of contract- in connection with works let by public tender :— Tenders to be accompanied by schedule, li.st of materials, quantities and prices and particulars showing how the amount oi tender is arrivod at. Extras to be paid for as ■2r schedule." He contended that if this clause had been stipulated in ho specification for the dam contract, the Council would have saved eiooo.
