THE COLLINGWOOD FIRE.
A RELIEF FUND IN NELSON. At the meeting to discuss tho question of a Trafalgar Centenary exhibition, hold in the Council Chamber last evening,' the Mayor sa d that after the Colling-' wood fire Imd occurred he telegraphed i the sympathy of Nelsonians to the Collingwood poople,and a rojily was received the particulars of which appeared in yes ter day's " Mail." The Mayor, in a few remarks, said that if it mot with their approval he would advertise the fact that a fund had been started, and that subscriptions would bo received at the City Counoil office, the Banks, and the newspaper offices. It was announced that assistance had already been received, including a donation from the Kaiapoi Woollen Company It was eventually resolved that tho Mayor carry put the suggestions made by himself. We havo to acknowledge the receipt of two or three large parcels of necessaries in response to Mrs Buchanan's appeals, and theso have been forwarded to Sirs Bachauan at Cambria House for despatch tft Colliagwood, Por the future, contributors ia ktud wi'.l please forward articles to Mr Burford at his wharf. Subscriptions in money will be received at this office and forwarded to the Mayor for trans* mission to Col'ingwood. We have to acknowledge from Mr A, T. White, Spring Giove, the sum of Jti towards the Collingwood Firo Iteli. r Fund, which has been forwarded to the Mayor of Nolson.
