The Foxhill Schoolroom wa<? well filled- last Friday evening-, the occasion being a social and distribution of prizes to St. Luke's Sunday School scholars, and also for tho purpose of extending a welcome to the newly-appointed Vicar, the Rev O. R. Hewlett. The Rev E. Allanson presided. The programme consisted of hymns sung by tho children, solos and duets by the teachers and scholars, and addresses of welcome to the Vicar, and encouragement to the teachers and scholars attending the school by the Chairman, the Rev O. R. Hewlett, .Messrs Dodson "Smith (Superintendentj), A. Neilsop, and F. B. Peart. The prizes, of which there .vtre > qiuite a number, were distributed by , tho Chairman. ' I At this stage of the proceedings,! Misses Palmer and Tarrant, on behalf of the members of the Church and Sunday School, presented Mr AUanson with a gold Maltose Cross, suitably engraved, accompanied by an address, stating that the members q! St. Luke's Church, l'oxhlil, wished to show their appreciation of the good work done- by Mr Allanson in this district, :md to convey to him their very best wishes, ' Bincerely hoping that he might bn blessed with many years of health ' and happiness in which to continue hia spod and useful work here or . elsewhere. J Mr A'llainson, in thanking the people for the token of their good wishes, stated that he would value both the present and the spirit which prompted it most highly. The Vicar, the Rev. 0. It/ Hewlett, in a short and hearty address, tfeanked the people for the warm ■welcome extended to himself aud family to the district, and hoped to have their help and Gpd's blessing in his labours. Before resuming his seat, the rev. gentleman called for three cheers for the Sunday School teachers, which were given in a hearty manner.
