When the proceedings of the Mag/s.---t rate's Cgurt opened this morning. M5 C, J. Harley. on behalf of tho member^ of the Bar, extended a hearty welcome tp Mr H. Eyre-Eenny, S.M., who l\aa "succeeded Mr H. W. 'Bobinson. He Went on to say tkab Mr Eyre-Eenny was nob a stranger to them, he having been abationedin Nelson about ten ye^rei ago, and everything tjien went on nicely and sniOQ'hly, and he had not the slightest doubt that the same good feeling would txist; he Mvyor (Mr H. Baigent) also tendered him a hearty welcome hack t > Nelson, and he hoped Mr Eyre«Kenny's experiences would be the sanio as Mr hobinson's, and that he would go away in the same way. Mr A. T. Maginnity endorsed tho remarks of Mr Harley in an appropriate and brief speech. Mr F, Shortland said that he was practically anew comer to Nelson, but had met Mr Eyre-Kenny in the Sfbrth Itl ind. He was sure he would never regret paving the place another ArißiK Mr H. Ey rp JJenny thanked the speakers for the. kind way they had received Win-. He confessed tfith regret fclwtt he aad left a place whej§ Se had been for five yeaißrrJffawera, No thing could ameliorate his leaving that place oxoept for the fact that he Had come to Nelson. H|s relations with the. members ]oi the bar at the place he had left were of ft most cordial nature, and it had been the same in Nelson when be -^as bisfchare. He thanked the Mayor for the kind words; spoken, and said he was glad to return to Nelson, and he was sure they wonjd get on well together, especially with |he. members of the bar, - , : ;{,
