THE NAVIGATION BILL.

(feec. 9.37 a.m.) , .SIDNEY, This p&y, T^he "Da-fly Telegraph'' discussing, tfie possible result of the Federal Navigation Bill, says : "New Zealand has from time to time made Wcfe for tihe mail steamers to juakp Wellington or Lyttelton their port 'of 'destiniation, and it v is quite certai'n, that la^ge quantity of. wellji«aying .jpikftgo could be secured in ports. Until the pnd '$.. January of vpxt year the steamers are bound to call at Adelaide, "but afterwards they might select Adelaide or Melbourne, as suited them calling at Fremamtle en route, and then run straight across to New Zealand. This is not a surmise, for the whole -quesrtibn is under consideration. The prospect appears to be that hundreds of thousands of pounds hitherto expended in Sydney may be transferred to New Zealand ports. Possibly freights and fares will be advanced, and whether foreign lines will continue to run under the special disabilities imposed on tibem is a ptoint for grave consideratic-'fl."
