MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.
The West Coast coach, which left Inangahua Junction for Longford yesterday,, had to return to tho Junction owing to the flood in the Buller. The rainfall for yesterday was 4.36 inches, the major portion of it falling between 5.30 p.m. and this morning. In the neighbourhood of the Botanical Reserve the residents tnis morning were unable to use their gas supply, except intermittently. On inquiry it was found that the flood waters had got into the vicinity. Syphons have now beon put in. , The laDd at the coiner of Halifax and Trafalgar Streets was partially under water during the height of the flood, and Wakatu Lane was some inches under water. The houses recently built on -he filled in land are still surrounded by ivater, but tho filled in land stood the strain vory well. 'J he water is now being drained otf .
