THE CREW SAFE. Information was received by tho Customs in Nelson this morning that (he scow Oban had capsized off Tori-out Bay two miles to the eastward yesterday afternoon, and that the crew were safe,. The vessel, which was in . command of Captain E. Ricketts, late of the ketch Comot, was owned by Mr A. McNah, who acted as niale. The other member of tbe crew was a foreigner ' named Dv Feu. ' -COLLINS WOOD, Thiß Day. about one o'clock yesterday afternoon, the scow Oban, of about 40 tons, bound from Nelson to Collingwood, wa3 struck by a squall off Astrolabe and capsized, turning completely over. Tho crew, consisting of Captain E. Ricketts, Mr MoNabb, and a young foreigner . named Dn Feu, managed to scramble on to the vessel's bottom, where they remained until rescued by the 5.9. Wairoa about 8 o'clock last night and brought on to Collingwood. Mr Rainier, of Nelson, who is now at Torrent Bay, arrirodat the tfceno of the wiock with his steam launch Gipsy just beforo the Wairoa. The ship's, dinghy was lashed on the deck- at the time of the occurrence, and it consequently wont under with the scow. The crew had a very narrow escape, -'Bn Feu being dragged under with the vessel, and he was given for lost by his mates when he reappeared. The crow lost everything except the scanty clothing they were weariEg. The Wairoa intends to ondeavour to tow the derelict to Torrent Bay this afternoon. The Oban was empty and is not insured. She is owned by Mr McNabb of Waitapu.
