DISTRIC NEWS.

TRASS' VALLEY. A COUNTY COUNCIL GRIEVANCE, To the Editor. Sir, — A question was asked tho other day by a resident in Trass's Valley : " Where are they?" The answer came back. "Oh they have forgotten that there was such a place. But they have onr thirds— they have them all right enough "—Now, Sir, a certain gentleman who is a first-class. hand, in fact I do not think that he just an apprentice in the art of niaking promises, just previous to the last election for the County made it his business to call. Of course he went up this said Valley (he had not forgotten then) and made all kinds of promises, but that was part of his business. One of the engineers, he has been there and like the other gentleman, promised ; but alas— alas that is all the poor people get. Can you tell me who is responsible if there is an accident ? I It was jnst the other day that there was a I very narrow escape from a very serious [ one. There is a large stump stands out of the 1 ground some sir or eight inches right in the i middle of the road, and just before you come to the stump there is a pond or miniature lake which has the honour of bearing the name of a prominent member of the Council. Hoping that these few lines may have the desired effect (if it is only a permanent light put over the stump, why that would be something), and thanking you for allowing me the opportunity. I am etc., NEMO. 111 ■ ■ 1
