There is no reason, so it is reported, why the Midland Railway should not be open for traffic to Staircase Gully within the next six months. Messrs Scott Brothers expect to complete their contract for the erection of the Patterson's Creek viaduct towards the end of thie month. All the tunnels between Patterson's Creek and Staircase Gully are completed, and only require the bottoms to be cleaned to be ready for the laying of the rails. Work on the tunnels beyond Staircase Gully is being pushed on rapidly, and there are at present employed on the Mount Torlesse section of the line about two hundred men. If you want to hire norses, tiuggies, Carriages, Cabs, etc., ring up F. N. JONES, Tattersail's. No. 69 {thirty-nine) don't forget it.-Advt
