SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY

Tne anniversary services of the St 'ohn'u Methodist Sunday School were conducted yetterday before large congroerationa, In the morning and evening the Roy W. J. Williams conducted the services, and preached sermons suitable to the occasion. In the afternoon Mr Kldred Hercus gave a short and interesting addiess to the children. The hearty singing* of the children was a special featnre of the service. Some beautiful hymns, some sung at the Children'-* Festival at the Crystal Palace during the Corona'. iop, mid others from the TorrerAlexander collodion, were rendered. Mr A. P. Lucas trained and conduoted the children. Miss Nina Moore presided at the organ. The platform was tastefully decorated by the scholars under the supervision of Miss Grace Bond. The collections for the day amounted to £13 lis 3d, being over £3 in excess of the amount taken last year.

The School report for the past year sho*s the receipts .£43 0s 3d, and expenditure £23 16s 6d, leaving a substantial credit balince of £14 3s 9d. There are 189 scholars on Ibe roll and 17 oflici/il3 and teachers. The sum of £9 Kis 6d waß contributed by the scnolar-*---to the Home Mission Fund, and JEI3 i*; in hand towards the purchase of a new organ for the school. Iho Sunday School library is being replenished with new books, and these are expected next month. The officers of the school are : - Superintendent, Mr Martin Smith ; Secretary, Mr W. E. Fleming ! Treasurer, Mr Janus Boon; Librarian, Mr A , h ichards ; Organist, Miss Grace Bond.
