He arrived in the sixties, and immediately entered business 'as a pastoralist, gaining a wide reputation as a breeder of pedigree stook. He was appointed to the Legislative Council in 1866. Deceased leaves three sons and three daughters, one of tbe latter being the wife of Mr George McLean, M.L.C.
