NELSON HABOUR BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board was began in the Union Co's room, the Port yesterday. There were present : Mr Finney (city) in the chair ; Messrs Trask and Hanby, (city); Talbot, (Richmond) ; Best and Franklyn, (Waimea) ; "Webster (Government). Owing to disarrangement of the Union ComI pany*s time table the chairman (Mr Grai ham. M.H.8.,) was unable to arrive in time to be present. Mr M'Kenzie, M.HR., left in (he morning for Westport and he also could not attend. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Hauby, seconded by Mr Best, " That this Board learns with regret of the death of Mrs Hursthouse, and desires to convey to Mr Hursthouse and family its sincere condolence and sympathy with them in their great bereavement. That the secretary be instructed to write and convey this resolution to Mr Hursthouse and family." Messrs Trask, Finney and other members added their expressions of sympathy to the remarks of the mover and seconder. Finance. The bank-book showed a credit balance at current account of .£249 Us 8d with fixed deposit of £2000. The Motueka wharf account showed a credit of £322 13s lOd, the only liability being Eankin £3 10s 6d, and current salary of wharfinger. Motueka Wharf. Mr Webster stated that he and tha Chairman had conferred with the clerk of the County Council as to the accounts of the Motueka wharf, and after going through the account it was found that the balance stood as stated. The wharf , was now absolutely under the control of ; the Board, aisd the vharfinger had been informed accordingly. Mr Finney stated that Mr Manoy had ■ expressed himself as satisfied with the
instructions of the Board to the wbarfin- ' ( ger to use discretion in regard to the ] temporary storage of kerosene, etc., Mr ; Fumey added that Mr Manoy, a large im- | porter, bad given him permission to stflto tha< he (Mr Manoy) was in favoar of the Board having control of Motueka wharf. '. Correspondence. Mr Franklyn pointed out that by the by-laws the motion really lapsed, as no notice of motion iv writing of the postpone mont had beeu given and the mover was not present. Howover, he was willing to adjourn the meeting till L'uesday at 2 p.m., but he did not see why the Board should adjourn till Saturday or Saturday week.
