,^HE SCHLEY-SAMPSON EPISODE, [UNITED PBESS ASSOCxATION.] WASHINGTON, July 27. In Maclay's " History of the American Navy," Rear-Admiral Sc'hley is accused of cowa die before and daring the battle of Santiago. Admiral Sohley h*a obtained a Court of Inquiry into the matter, under the presidency of Bear-Admiral Dewey. j The accusation ia really a re viral of the quarrel between Bear-Admiral Schley and Admiral Sampson as to whom credit should be given for the victory of Sani tiago. The quarrel was aggravated by I Admiral Sampson in his revision of Mac* j lay's book calling Schiey a " Micawber I Admiral, a liar and caitiff." The inquiry concerning Admiral Sohley opens on September 12th.
