NELSON'S DIAMOND JUBILEE.
■ — To the Editor of "The Evening Mail." Sir,— i.t the Nelson Diamond Jubilee I read with interest the letter in the "Evening Mail" of 17th, signed "Nel.onian.' I am of the opinion that if the business people of Nelson are alive to the r own interests they will take this matter in hand, and will endeavour to get up some demonstration that wil be a credit to the cit, There is no doubt that , such a thing as a C3rnival would be a great benefit to the people of Nelson. T . suggest that tho Mayor con vet e a meeting of citizens to form a Committee to arrange a programme. Thanking you for bringing the matter forward, and trusting that someone will keep Ihe ball rolling, I am, etc., PROGRESS, [Requisitions to the Mayor to convene -a public meeting are now being circulated for signature, and will be presented to Mr Baigent on his return frcm the Royal festivities.— Ed.
