THE WELLINGTON-NELSON MATCH.
The following team to represent Wellington against kelson in the match at the Athletic Park, Wellington, to-day, have been selected .by the Wellington Selection Committee : — Full-back, Wrigley; three-quarters, Mclntyre, Wallace, Jacobs ; five-eighths, Wood ; half, Meredith ; Wing Forwards, H. Kelly, Gallagher ; back, E. Wyllie, Dodd, Adams, Skelton (centre), O'Brien, JSpencer, Me Anally. The team (says the " Post") is a good one. Jt is probable that, whatever the selection, a seco ° d team almost e.qnal in its claims could be picked. Therefore there are many debateable points. The chief difficulty was to find a place for Wrigley, and he has been made full-back. He should certainly be an excellent full ; but, on the other hand, G. Spencer's admirers contend that he is a proved full, and that the man who hf s played in the position during the season should go m. There is, however, very little danger of any player improving on Wrigley, whose only likely deficiency is in speed. In the qaarterline, Burr was not consideied, owing to an inj ary . Wallace s claims to the centre-three-quarter position (thougn he also has not played in it this season) , were paramount, which detracted considerably from P. Gerrard's chances; aftd though Gerrard can play a wing game with the best, Jacobs and Mclntyre, both sterling players, have k« en P re , fe . I ?; ed - The selection of Wood and Meredith as five-eights and half will give general satisfaction. Gallagher, who has been playing in the pack, has been picked with H. Kelly as a winger ; some would substitute Ostler or Manson for Gallagher E. Wylie and Dodd should make a clever and well-matched pair of frontrankers. Skelton, as lock, has heaps ot power and he will have sturdy supports m Adams and O'Brien, and M' Anally and J. Spencer. On the whole tho Selection Committee has performed a difficult- task very creditably.
