DOINGS IN SYDNEY.
SYDNFY, May 31. To-day the principal function was the Lying of the memorial stone in tho lueen Victoria Pavilion at the Prince !If red Memorial Hospital. The Commitee decided to commemorate the late }ueen by calling the building the Queen Victoria pavilion. The Duke, replying o an address, said it was with deep satisaction that the Duchess and himself ook part in the ceremony. He liked to iope that their presence might conduce n a small degree to the advancement of ;he splendid work which had already jeon done by the hospital. He doubted ,vhether any more fitting memorial could nave been chosen for the late Queon, for ber sympathy with sufferers was the allporvadeing element of her noble character. The Royal concert at the Town Hall to-night was a splendid success. The hall was magnificently decorated, and the audience was large and brilliant. Large crowds in the illuminated streets watched the arrival and departure of the Duke and Duchess of York, who wore escorted by the Lancers and the mounted police.
