A FINE OF £20. Several small bets are made at elections bnt it is well for thoEe who " like to have something on " to know the law on the subject. See 163 of the Election Act cf 1893, says :— " Every person who makes fcny wager, bet, or other rißk of any nature whatsoever npon the result of any election urder tbis Act, is liable for every such offenee to a penalty not exaeeding £20; and every such wager, bet, or any otber risk shall be, and is hereby declared an illegal praotioe within the meaniog of tbe Corrupt Praotioes Prevention Aet, 1881."
