RE-ELECTION OF CR. BIRD AS CHAIRMAN.
The annual statutory meeting of the Waimea County Council was held at noon yesterday The business being the election of a chairman for the ensuing yeur, the Chairman left the chair, which was then takin for tho time being by the County Clerk. Cr Pattie proposed that Cr Bird be re-elected Chairman. This would bo the 1-tth time of election, and he complimented Cr Bird on this splendid record, and on having retained the confidence of the Council and tho ratepayers for such a length of time. Cr Ileuke seconded tho motion, which was carried unanimously, Cr Bird then resumed his seat as Chairman, and returned thanks for his re-elec-tion. Ho said that he perhaps gave more time to his duties than was necessary; bnt there was a great deal to do. His work liad been greatly lightened by the services of the County Clerk, Mr Bloomfleld, md he was glad to say that the work of die Council wenton, in spite of occasional lifferences of opinion, very harmoniously —
