DISTRICT NEWS.
[From Our Correspondents.] BRIGHTWATER. WEDDING BELLS. A. vory pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Paul's Church on Wednesday afternoon. Mr John May (Lite of Nelson, but now of Chrisrchurch, where he holds an important position in the Government Bailimy Workshop) \ya3 married to Hiss Mabel Mary Falroy, oldest daughter of Mr E. S. I'airey, of BrigUtwater. The service, which was partly choral, was conducted by the Rev. W. G. Baker. The bride (who ivas given away by her fathor) was very daintily and tastefully attired in a cream-figured silk lustre dress, with sash, and the orthodox orange blossom veil. She also wore a gold broooh, tho gift of the briedgroom, and carried a lovely bou. quuk, made (as were the other bouquets) by the Misses Itutherford, of Hope. She was attended by her two sisters as bridesmaids, and her little brother as page. One of tho bridesmaids was dressed in cream, and the other in the palest green, with a shepherd's crook, and both wore gold brooches given by the bridegroom the whole forming an ideal group, The bridegroom was attended by Mr Fairey (of Nelson) as best man. After the service the wedding party adjourned to the residence of the bride's parents, where a vory elaborate afternoon tea was provided and partaken of by a large number of invited guests, who also had the pleasure of inspecting tho numerous useful and beautiful presonts. Iho whole party were then photographed. Mr and Mrs May will leave Nelson shortly for their home at Christchurch. The dresses were made by tho Misses Forater, of Brlgatwater,
