A NARROW ESCAPE. AT SEA [United Tress Association.] WELLINGTON, October 21. The brigantine Linda Weber, which arirved ,this afternoon from Tairua, experisnced a terrific gale when off Cape Palliser on Wednesday night, and had a very narrow Jesiape fiom disaster. Oil bags were successfully used for soma hours in keeping down the sea, but eventually three mountainous seas broke on board, throwing the vessel on her beam ends, and Bashing- overboard nearly all tbe deck cargo of timber. Three of the crew narrowiy escaped being swept away, and one man was badly injured. When tho ship righted herself the remainder of the deck cargo was jettisoned, the total loss being 18,000 feet of timber. DuriDg the gale the vessel drifted 50 miles under bare poleß,
