s Owing to a general scarcity of fe-id, a number of cattle about Wanganui are in a very poor condition, according to the local Inspector of Dairies. He also found that some of the dairymen did not pay sufficient regard to cleanliness. Something like 600 cows were being milked under inspection. Tbe Inspector has been authorised to cancel any license where it can be proved tbat the licensees are not cleanly in their dairy matters. In future every cow will be tested, and every animal which ia passed will bo branded with the Corporation's registered brand. Alter tbat dairymen desirous of adding to .their herds will have to give notice to the Council a Inspector, who will have to examine, pass, and brand every cow.
