WASHINGTON, August 1. Admiral Dewey has telegraphed from Manila that Aquinaldo, the rebel leader in the Philippines, is boldly defiant of American authority , and that there is a strong indication that it will be necessary to Sght the insurgents, but a strong force will b« required.
