THE RARATONGA RESIDENCY.

The are three candidates in the field for the position of British Resident at Raratonga at present held by Mr F. G. Moss. They are Messrs Albert' Glover. of Auck« land (a former Resident at Raratonga), Mr C. D. Whitcombe (at one time professor of ' English at Tonga), and Mr R. Mabin (who formerly held an official position at Samoa). As the appointment has to be made by the Secretary of Stace for the after receiving the recommendation of the New Zealand Government there is> not likely to be any announcement on the subject till tbe close of the session.
