THE FOXHILL SPORTS.
■ Tho Foxhill Athletic Association held their j^nd annual Sports Meeting in Mr Gaukrodger'B paddock at Foxhill yester--1 day, whon there was a large attendance ■ from both town and country. Tho track wns in splendid condition, the fields in \ every instance wore good, and the finishes ■ were keen and exciting. The races were slightly behind time, and this is about \ the only complaint that can be made. * 'The officials, with Mr Veysey as secretary at thoir head, did their utmost to • make ths meeting a successful one. As starter, Mr Pople did his work in a most ' satisfactory manner, and ho certainly : deserves unstinted praise for his efforts in this direction. Tho bar, under the ' ablo management of Mr Gaukrodger, was well patronised, and Mr Mead, who had the refreshment booth, did a really good business, and cannot bo too highly complimented upon the quality of his luncheon. The Wakefield Brass Band played a number of choice selections, which wero thoroughly enjoyed by those present. The courtesy of Mr Veysey (the Secretary) and the members of the Committee to the representative of the Maid is heartily acknowledged. The following are the results : Maiden Race, 220yds, lst prize los 2nd do. 7s 6d. F. Baigent 1, L. Hunter 2, Gibbs 3 ; time ;33secs. Won rather easily. Boyß Race Handicap— 22oyds, lst 6s, 2nd 3s. Snowden 1, Tidd 2 ; time 34secs. Foxhill Points Race— looyds, 20Qyds, 300yds. The winner of the most points in the three events receives the Associa tion's Cup. First event, 100yds, £1 ; 2nd, 10. Glover 4yds J, Wells 4vds 2, Holland 2yds, 3 ; time 10 2-sthsecs. This was a very close and exciting race, Glover just managing to win on the tape. Putting the Shot-lst 10s 2nd 6s. Snowden 33ft 1, Schroedor 2, Schwass 3. Hurdle Race— 4loyds— lst £2, 2nd £1, G' Glover 1, H. Clear 2, Haines 3. Time G9secs. This was iwery " fiat ' race. Glover having it all his own way. Sack Race, 220yds— lst 10s 2nd Cs" Wearing 1, W* Colo 2. Foxhill Handicap (points)— Second event, 200yds— lst £1 2nd *os. L Hunter, 9yds 1, W Foary Byds, 2. G. Glover syds, 3. Time 23 2-sthsecs. Wop easily. Running Long Jump, Ist 12s Cd, 2nd 7s 6d— L. Holland 19ft 9iin, 1, R. Palmer 18ft 7in, 2, Snowden 18ft sin 3 Half-Milo Race Handicap, lst £1 10s and trophy valued at one guinea, 2nd £1. Wells 35yds, 1, H. Clear 35yds 2 i Time 2niin 1 5secs, Clear entered a protest against the winnor on the ground that Wells sent in wrong performances, and tho committee decidod to hold back tho stakos and inquire into the matter. Old, Men's Race (handicap) over 50 years of age, D. Burn (scratch) 1. Running High Jump, lst 16s, 2nd 7s 6d. L. Hunter, and Schroeder dead heat, sft •tin. 1. Foxhill Handicap (points raco). Third event, 300 yds, lst XI 5s 2nd 15s. L, Hunter 12ycls, I, W. Feary 11yds, 2, G. Glover Gyds, 3. This raco fell rather flat, Huntor winning by nioro than his handicap. Hunter thus won with 10 points, Glover being second with 9 points, Feary third with G points. Single AVomon's Bace, over 17 years of ago, 150yds, lst Lady's silvor watoh, 2nd 7s Od. M. Mead 1, B. Tidd 2, This was a great race, Miss Mead only just managing to win. Egg and Spoon Race, *220yds, lst, 15s, 2nd, 7s Gd. J. W* Richards 1, L, Holland 2. Won easily. Mile Race Handicap. Ist prize, £2 10s and Silver Cup ,• 2nd; .£1 10s : J. Glover, 00yds, 1 ; A. Haines, scratch, 2 j T. Lines, 75yds, 3. Time 4min 58 2-sth seos. Hurdle Race Handicap, 120yds. Ist prize, £1 5s i 2nd, 12s Od • J, Rcss, 7yds, 1 j L. Hunter, syds, 2 j F. Fowler, syds, 3. This was a rather pretty race, Ross winning by about a yard, Time 17 l-6th sees. Juvenile Race, under 18 years of age. lst prize, £1 ; 2nd 12s 6d: F. Baigent, 6yds, l'j L. Baigent, soratoh, 2. Eleven started. A good race, with an exciting finish. Time 61secs. Three-Legged Race, 220yds i Leighton I Bros, 1 • Wearing Bros, 2. Won easily; Throwing the Crioket Ball i G, Hunter, 1 Snowden, 2. ■ ' Married Women's Race, Ist prize, an I'' ' /

This' wae the most exciting race of the day, and caused muoh merriment, Mrs Jenner and Mrs Eves fighting i hard for first place. Consolation Race, 22oyds.
