RICHMOND.
SCHOOL PICNIC. The boys and girls of the Richmond Estate boliool had us much' fun as they could possibly wish for at their annual picmc on Boxing Day. Having had plenty of Christmas pudding, cakes, and other good things, tney were not in the loast inconvenienced thereby in their games of rounders cricket and racing. There was a liberal supply of prizes, thanks to the generosity of many friends. It 'was a Sight to see the picknickers on their wav to their pleasure grounds, some in buggies', others in vans, spring traps, carts, and even drays, those in the latter having, as one traveller aptly termed it a "rattling" good time " rattling their bones over the stones." Mr Cowles, head master, a number of the Sohool Commjttee, and Mr P, Best, of the Education Board, were among those present, Foremost as usual upon such occasions where the enjoyment of the little ones is concerned, was Mrs May, who busied herself here, there, and everywhere, and well she deserved the thanks of all. Before leaving f'v home cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Cock, upon whose very pretty grounds at Appleby tho picnic was held.
