I Mass Meeting in Wellington. (United Press Association.] Wislmxoton, Deoember li. A mass meeting was held by the successful candidates on the Liberal tioket last night at the foot of the Queen's Wharf. In tho course of his remarks the Premier snid the Opposition claimed a moral victory, ljut all ho could say was that they could have thoir moral viotory evory time so long as the results were the same. Their party was, he contended, stronger since 1H!)(), but during the past session the Government had not a majority of more than eight on whom they could depend, wbilo now thoy could rely upon 22, and probably one or two more to come. He defended the action of himself in speaking at tho various constituencies throughout the colony, and be pointed out that Mr Duthie though nor. a candidate, had done the same. Mr Seddon concluded by saying that the result of the eleotion on the wholo wns extremely satisfactory, aud wbilo deploring the loss of Rome good " Liberals " the Government had got two seats for every ono lost, the loss being mainly confined to tho middle party.
