SELF-INTEREST AND INCORRUP.

TIBILITY. To tjik Edituk ov •• Tub Evening) Maii*.' 1

Sir,— There is much talk about tho bribery and corruption of the present Government. 1 rojoice to see that its opponents are so free from this taint. The Ministerial candidates do not pay for votes Oh dear, no ! Asking for public money to be lavished uselessly in tho candidate's district is quite a different thing to spending one's own cash, and — it is much cheaper. All honour to the pious and ingenious gentleman who has thus contrived so neatly to reconcile his conscience, his self interest, and his economy, I am, etc., ANTI SNDDONITE & ANTI-HUMBUG.
