Wellington, Oct. 15. Tlio adjourned half-yearly meeting of shareholders in the Bank of Now Zealand was hold this aftornoon. Mr Watson, tho President, said he oxpected wnon they last adjournod that tho legislation pending would hiwo boon completed, but as it was not it had been decided to recommend a further adjournment. Ho therefore moved that tho mooting should bo adjournod until Thursday, tho 2l)th inst. Mr W. Johnston seconded tho motion.
In a short discussion which followed, Mr G. F. McLean expressed the opinion that the Banking legislation relioctocl very little credit on the Government and others concerned, and that the shareholders had been afforded too little opportunity of expressing nny opinion upon it.
Tho motion to adjourn was then r, and agreed to, the mooting only occuj ing a tow minutes.
