Cruelty to Farm Horses.

Heavy Fines at InvercargUl. Invercaroill, This Day. Exceptionally heavy fines were imposed by Mr Poynton, S M., to-day in a cruelly to animals case. The defendants were a farmer named Alfred Tapper and his seivant, John Fraser, who woiked lime horses sufferiLg from sore shoulders. The defendant Tapper said he had suffered by floods and had to rush through work, and also that in a few days tbe liorses would be turned out for a six months' spell. The Magistrate, after inspecting the horses, said it was tbe most disgusting case he had seen in his capacity either of a lawyer or of a magistrate. He lined Tapper £20 and Fraser £5.
